London Philharmonic Choir appoints Guest Associate Chorus Director, Bo Wang, for the 2025/26 season
Wang will support the Choir during the 2025/26 season including preparing repertoire by Zou Ye and Tan Dun
The London Philharmonic Choir (LPC), a world-renowned choral ensemble, today 15 October 2025 announces the appointment of Bo Wang as its Guest Associate Chorus Director for the 2025/26 season. Wang brings a wealth of experience as a singer and choral director to his new role and will share his deep passion for choral music, further developing the quality and reputation of one of the UK’s leading symphony choirs.
During his season with the London Philharmonic Choir, Wang will shadow new Chorus Director Madeleine Venner assisting her in preparing the Choir for performances with the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) of Zou Ye‘s Kukai Symphony (30 January 2026), and the UK premiere of Tan Dun’s Nine, which will be presented alongside Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 conducted by Tan Dun (28 March 2026 in London and 29 March 2026 in Birmingham). The Tan Dun performances in March are in collaboration with Wang’s own ensemble, the London Chinese Philharmonic Choir.
Wang’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the London Philharmonic Choir as it continues its legacy of delivering professional quality and award-winning performances from its members who are amateur singers from all walks of life. Wang is the first Guest Associate Chorus Director of the London Philharmonic Choir since its founding in 1947.

Bo Wang, London Philharmonic Choir Guest Associate Chorus Director
Bo Wang is an artist whose work spans the dual paths of tenor soloist and choral director.
As a versatile performer, he has sung more than twenty operatic roles across Europe and Asia. His performances have taken place at major venues including English National Opera’s London Coliseum, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and Beijing’s National Centre for the Performing Arts. As a former tenor soloist with the Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, he recorded Farewell to Cambridge under the direction of Sir Stephen Cleobury and produced by Simon Kiln. Through this work, he infused the ensemble’s legacy with a poetic sensibility that bridges Eastern and Western traditions.
As a conductor, Wang is a co-founder and artistic director of the London Chinese Philharmonic Choir. The ensemble is recognised as the largest Chinese choir in Europe. Under his leadership, the choir has performed at international festivals and cultural diplomacy events across the UK and abroad. He also previously served as guest chorus master at the Edinburgh International Festival.
He brings to his choral leadership a deep understanding of vocal technique, human connection, and creative collaboration. Wang’s work reflects a passion for inclusive artistry. His approach combines classical discipline with a contemporary and international voice. His crossover achievements have earned him a GMS (Guild of Music Supervisors) Award nomination for Best Song for TV in Hollywood. He has also collaborated with Oscar-winning artists including Dame Judi Dench, director John Madden, composer Tan Dun, and Best Actress Michelle Yeoh.
Wang also lectures at the University of London, sharing his experience in performance, cross-cultural creativity, and vocal artistry with the next generation of musicians.
